Lego Models - Lord of the Rings Minifigures
These models are ones that I have built over the years, some using Mindstorms, some using regular Legos. Thanks to Matt Groves for help on The Bridge of Khazad Dum model. The rendered pictures were first made using ML CAD, which needs the program Ldraw to run. After the .dat file was created, it was converted to a .pov using a program called L3P, then rendered using POV-RAY.
**Thanks to Matthias
Wandel for the idea for my marble elevator/marble pump.
Lord of the Rings Minifigures
Here are some Lego minifigs of Lord of the Rings characters I made one day. I tried to use as little customization as possible so that they would be genuine Lego figures.
Frodo Baggins |
|
Frodo Baggins was a simple hobbit, living with his uncle, Bilbo Baggins, in the Shire. Then the Quest of the Ring fell upon him, so now Frodo is the bearer of the one ring. He must cast the ring into the Cracks of Doom to destroy it, freeing the peoples of Middle-Earth from Sauron's rule. |
Bilbo Baggins |
|
Bilbo Baggins is Frodo's uncle. The one ring was originally his, (explained in The Hobbit ) but Gandalf forced him to give it to Frodo, along with all of his other belongings, when he went to Rivendell. Bilbo is very old, as the ring gave him unnatural long life. |
Aragorn |
|
Aragorn was one of the first companions of Frodo, and was a great help in fighting off evil, because of his skill with a blade. Aragorn is of the Númenorian race and is the heir of Isildur. This means he is the rightful king of Gondor, but he doesn't want to accept his heritage, because Isildur could have destroyed the ring long ago, but he was corrupted by it. |
Boromir |
|
Boromir is Denethor, Steward of Gondor's son and a member of the Fellowship, and is of Gondor. He is easily corrupted, and tries many times to get Frodo to give the ring to Gondor instead of destroying it. Although he is easily corrupted, his fighting skills are valuble to the Fellowship. |
Faramir |
|
Boromir's brother, Faramir is the less-loved son of Denethor. He guards Ithilien, and helped Frodo and Sam reach Minas Morgul, but not after trying to take the ring from Frodo. |
Legolas |
|
One of the Fellowship, Legolas is an elf of the Woodland Realm (Mirkwood). Like all elves, he is an expert bowsman, and never misses a shot. He also has acute senses, and perfect balance. Throughout the quest, he befriends a dwarf, Gimli. It is very peculiar for elves and dwarves to be friends, as they have long been enemies. |
Gimli |
|
A part of the Fellowship and Legolas' friend, Gimli the dwarf is a stout creature. He enjoys killing orcs, like all dwarves. Often he has contests with Legolas to see how many enemies they can kill in a battle. His preferred weapon is his battle axe, though he has many other axes he can choose from. |
Gandalf the Grey |
|
Gandalf, a member of the Fellowship, is they're leader and most powerful member. His knowledge is extensive, as well as his battling skills. Gandalf is also very good friends with Frodo and Bilbo Baggins. |
Saruman |
|
At one time, Saruman the White was the wisest of his people. Over time, however, he became greedy and cowardly, and decided to join Sauron in his evil. Through the palantir, Saruman thought he was plotting and scheming with the dark lord, when really, Saruman was only his puppet in the east. |
Elrond Halfelven |
|
Elrond Halfelven is the Elfking of Rivendell. It was he that decided the fate of the ring at the Council of Elrond. Elrond is an expert healer, and healed Frodo after he was stabbed by the Witchking at Weathertop. Because of his healing powers and vast knowledge, Elrond was an invaluble ally against Sauron. |
Arwen Undomiel |
|
Arawen is Aragorn's lover, and gave up her everlasting life to be with him. Her father, Elrond, greatly opposes this, though he accepts her decision to stay on Middle-Earth when all the other elves sail to the Undying Lands. |
Soldier of Gondor |
|
A soldier from the realm of Gondor, with the symbol of the White Tree of Minas Tirith on his armor. |
Nazgul (Ringwraith) |
|
This is one of nine Nazgul that scour all of Middle-Earth to retrieve the ring for Sauron. They were once men, but Sauron tempted and corrupted them with magic rings. They became servants of Sauron, and are neither living nor dead, so you can not kill them. They can't see well, but always sense the presence of the ring and its power. |
Mordor Orc |
|
Orcs are a species created by Sauron himself. He captured elves, and tortured them until they became the ugly, foul creatures that are orcs. He then bred them into a brutal and unorganized army of hundreds of thousands. |
